Chapter 1 of Conceiving Pregnancy
Here it is! Chapter 1! I've made a start, which I'm great at, it's the following through that I'm not so great with but at least I'm on the right track
536 words, 37 964 to go!
Let me know what you think!
3 boys! What are the chances of conceiving a girl? Pretty slim!
Dh (dear husband on the baby chat boards)says, "No! We're just going to end up with another boy and then it's back to sleepless nights, nappies and terrible twos!"
"So, if we're definitely not having any more children does that mean you're going for a vasectomy?"
Hit him below the belt! I didn't know he could go so pale! "Are you having a heart attack?" I ask innocently.
"Can't you be sterilised?"
"I can but it's an invasive procedure for me so if I'm going to do that then I want another baby to show for it. Come on, one more try for a girl! If it's a 50/50 chance then surely the odds are in our favour by now?"
"Apparently not, your eggs defy statistics."
"Or your swimmers." I mutter under my breath and then say a bit louder, "Come on, in the last year my friends have all had girls, 12 in a row! There's something in the water here!"
"Exactly, time for the chain to be broken and guess who'll break it? You're just antsy because every time we move to a new city you have a new baby, time to break the tradition. Besides, if you do have another one then I have to sit with your pnd (post natal depression for any newbs out there!) when you're fat and sore and miserable with another boy to show for it."
"You make it sound like you don't love the ones you have." Time to draw the emotional card.
"You know that's not true, I adore the boys, they're just at a nice human age now where you can reason with them."
Right, time for the tears! Just thinking about those little girls in their pink dresses and little dolls (Lord knows I'm sick of cars and action figures!) is enough to tug at the hormones and open the floodgates. "I just feel like our family isn't complete without a girl, I want someone to shop with and do girly things with, it's not fair, you have 3 sons to do guy stuff with."
Works every time! hee hee, I'm sure this is how Eve did it. Hey, if the good Lord in his infinite wisdom didn't want us to manipulate men for their own good he wouldn't have given us hormones and men the protective gene that reacts to them!
"Ok but let the record show that I think this is a very bad idea. I'm not doing night feeds, changing nappies and I don't want to hear one complaint about heartburn, weight gain and dealing with tantrums."
"Duly noted." I grin, we'll cross those bridges when we get to them.
"On the up side this will be my third Caesar so they will automatically offer me a sterilisation."
He seems slightly mollified at having dodged the vasectomy bullet.
"Of course, it's not 100% guaranteed, we would be safer if you went for the snip too."
"I'll take my chances."
I can't believe how excited I am, a new baby! A little girl! My dad always says, "Anything you want badly enough you can have." I want this badly enough!!

And so it begins
Having just returned from watching Julia and Julie I was astounded to note how much like Julie I am, apart from the cooking! Me in the kitchen is something to behold! Just ask my family :)
So the challenge!
36 500 words in a year!
On two different subjects! :)
Book one - Conceiving motherhood - my quest to conceive a girl after bearing 3 boys!
Book two - Bolsover - A story based in Medieval England.
The blog is to keep me on track and for you, the world at large in your infitnite kindness, to keep me motivated.
For once in my life I need to finish a project!
